Ingredients

2 cups whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)

1/2 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

A pinch of sea salt

Whipped cream (for topping)

Ground cinnamon and additional pumpkin pie spice (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, pumpkin puree, cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and sea salt. Whisk continuously until the mixture is well combined and heated through, but not boiling.

Once heated, use an immersion blender to blend until smooth and creamy. If you don’t have an immersion blender, carefully transfer the mixture to a traditional blender, blend until smooth, and return to the saucepan.

Taste the hot chocolate and adjust the sweetness or spice level if necessary.

Pour the pumpkin spice hot chocolate into mugs.

Top with whipped cream, then sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon and more pumpkin pie spice on top for extra flavor and decoration.

Serve warm and enjoy your cozy drink!
