Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 cup uncooked rice (preferably long-grain)

2 cups beef broth

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 small onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional: red pepper flakes for extra heat

Instructions

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or a wide saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Cook the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Italian seasoning.

Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add the diced onion and garlic to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Add Rice and Broth: Stir in the uncooked rice, soy sauce, and beef broth. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer.

Add Broccoli: Once the broth is simmering, gently fold in the broccoli florets. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow it to cook for about 15 minutes or until the rice and broccoli are tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Cheese It Up: Once the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed, reduce the heat to low. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top and cover again for about 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove from heat, fluff the mixture with a fork, and if desired, sprinkle with red pepper flakes for a spicy kick. Serve immediately and enjoy your cheesy one-pan dish!
