Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

½ cup sugar

1 tsp salt

1 cup milk, warmed

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Apple Pie Filling:

3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (e.g., Granny Smith)

½ cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

For the Cinnamon Sugar:

½ cup brown sugar

2 tbsp cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2-3 tbsp milk

½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large bowl, combine the warmed milk and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

      - Add melted butter, sugar, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.

        - Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the flour. Knead until a smooth, elastic dough forms (about 5-7 minutes).

          - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1-1.5 hours).

            Make the Apple Filling:

              - In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss to coat and set aside to allow the flavors to meld.

                Assemble the Rolls:

                  - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

                    - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 15x24 inches.

                      - Spread the softened butter over the dough, followed by an even layer of the cinnamon sugar mixture.

                        - Spoon the apple filling evenly over the cinnamon sugar layer.

                          - Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal rolls and place them in the prepared baking dish.

                            Second Rise:

                              - Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 30-45 minutes until puffed up.

                                Bake the Rolls:

                                  - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

                                    Make the Glaze:

                                      - While rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust milk for desired consistency.

                                        Glaze and Serve:

                                          - Once rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.

                                            - Serve warm and enjoy the delicious flavors of apple pie in every roll!
